Hacktoberfest 2025: Build, Contribute, and Learn with Chimoney 🚀

Phylis A

Hacktoberfest is back, and Chimoney is excited to participate in 2025! Every October, developers, writers, designers, and open-source enthusiasts worldwide come together to contribute to open-source projects, share knowledge, and celebrate collaboration.

For the past three years, Chimoney has welcomed contributions in code, documentation, and design. This year, we’re continuing that tradition and introducing a brand-new project for Hacktoberfest 2025: IaaS-k8s, a multi-cloud Kubernetes deployment solution.

About Chimoney and the Chimoney API

Chimoney is a global payments infrastructure provider, enabling businesses, organizations, and communities to send bulk payments instantly across 130+ countries. Payouts can be redeemed via bank transfers, mobile money, gift cards, and airtime.

The Chimoney API allows developers to programmatically send, receive, and collect payments across borders. With support for multiple channels, including bank accounts, mobile wallets, gift cards, and airtime, the API is designed to empower practical applications and use cases.

Through the integration of the Interledger Protocol (ILP), Chimoney also enables interoperable payments across networks. Developers can issue Interledger Wallet Addresses (Payment Pointers) and allow users to send and receive payments globally, powering use cases like Web Monetization and Open Payments. Learn more here.

If you want to explore the Chimoney API, start by creating a developer account at sandbox.chimoney.io and follow this step-by-step guide to generate your API key and make your first test payment.

Chimoney Community Projects

Chimoney Community Projects are open-source contributions made by developers, writers, and community members using the Chimoney API. These projects include:

  • SDKs in different programming languages
  • Sample applications integrating the Chimoney API
  • Technical articles highlighting practical use cases

Each project has its own README file with setup instructions, so be sure to check it for guidance on running or contributing to that project.

Ways to Contribute:

  • You can submit SDKs, applications, or integrations to help extend Chimoney’s projects.
  • Write new guides or improve existing content to make it easier for others to use the API.
  • Improve usability and workflows to increase the overall developer/contributor experience.
  • Create tutorials or case studies that demonstrate practical applications of the Chimoney API.

How to Get Started:

  1. Explore open issues in the Chimoney Community projects repository or propose your own idea.
  2. Fork the repo, create a branch, make your changes, and open a pull request.
  3. Follow the folder structure: contributions go into submissions/ with subfolders for SDKs, articles, etc.
  4. Review our contribution guidelines for more details.
